Miracle Street crowds in the sun!

Such a brilliant weekend in the hot sun! In New Milton, Josh, Emma, Jimmy and I worked alongside the churches of the town as 2,000 people gathered on the green, brilliant time having loads of fun and mess with the kids and youth and lots of opportunities to talk about Jesus to the crowds who were really open to what we had to say.

On Sunday we rigged the Mainstage on Mayflower Park Southampton for the ‘Together In One Place’ Pentecost celebration alongside Alun Leppitt and the outstanding worship band from Bridge Christian Fellowship here in the city. A real partnership is emerging once again between Alun and me. We go back 25 years or so since the days of the Interface youth event that later morphed into Cutting Edge with Martin Smith and the band that became Delirious. We had several hundred people on Mayflower Park the majority of who were just hanging around the park that became part of the event. It reminded me of the feeding of the 5,000 in many ways. One lady who was prayed for in the Prayer Tent had not left her home for several months following the suicide of her son, it’s the reason we do all this.

Mainstage Pentecost Southampton

This coming weekend we have two really key events. On Saturday we travel to New Milton in the New Forest to work alongside New Life Church to create their annual Family Funday event on the green in the centre of the town. Over the last two years we have seen crowds of over 2,000 at this event and we’re looking forward to taking the Mobilestage and a large team with us to press in with the church again for their community. On Sunday the Mainstage will be in Mayflower Park, Southampton for the “Together in One Place” Pentecost Family Celebration. Again we are hoping for big crowds as the churches of the city gather and we declare and demonstrate the love of God to the city. Mayflower Park is a very key location to story of The Liberation of Europe in 1944. It was a major embarkation point for the troops heading for Normandy. I’m told that almost every inch of Southampton Water in that area was covered with landing craft. It seems a very poignant moment for us as we look to all that God has in store for us in Normandy and ultimately the rest of France and on into Mainland Europe. It’s less than three weeks until the ‘Breakthrough Normandy’ 24 hour prayer expedition. 30 people are already booked in from the UK and we are linking up with a coach and a further 20 or so from France at the port in Caen. If you would like to come with us please email back as soon as you can as places are now limited and I’ll make sure all the information gets to you in time.

Life-changing trip to Madrid!

Just like the previous trip last November we walked into an amazing ‘open-Heaven’ environment of faith and expectation in the church but also in the many people we met on the streets.  In several meetings in the church and in the local park, we saw upwards of 100 people respond to Jesus, a lot of them having had no previous connection with the church. On the final evening I spoke in one of the congregations that squeezes 75 people into a tiny venue in the heart of the inner city close to Real Madrid's Bernabau Stadium. It was incredible to see over 40 at the front of the meeting responding to Jesus. There were many tears and a great sense of breakthrough among the broken as we prayed for them all. Part of my heart is still there with them.

Over the last week or so I have visited Cornwall to meet with Don Double and John Townley who leads The Free Methodists down there. It was a great opportunity to test the waters and pursue this vision that I felt God put of my heart to help and support the churches in that region with the resources and skills that we have at our disposal to present the message of Jesus. We confirmed two weekends this summer, one in July and one in August to work with the church in St Austell. I’m really excited about the opportunity. On Tuesday last week another 40 or so young people responded to the Gospel at the Oakwood Youth Challenge in Wokingham, it’s been quite a week!!

As we approach the summer events I am very aware that we are down to wire again financially and we need additional provision of around £5,000 throughout May to meet our targets. So many have already responded to the mini crisis we have faced this last couple of months with bills amounting to several thousand pounds on our stages and tractor unit. Could I ask you to consider whether you can give to the work of Miracle Street at this time to enable us to go to the places we need be rather than just those locations who can afford our overheads. It will make a massive difference!

Thanks again to everyone who so faithfully walks this journey with us.
